Rockard J. Delgadillo, CEO
Los Angeles County Medical Association Rockard J. Delgadillo is the Chief Executive Officer of the Los Angeles County Medical Association and is a partner at Liner Grode Stein Yankelevitz Sunshine Regenstreif and Taylor’s Los Angeles office and a member of the Litigation Department. He has more than 20 years of experience in litigation, economic development transactions and government law and public policy. Mr. Delgadillo was previously with Goodwin Procter LLP after his eight year tenure, the term limit, as the City's chief lawyer and chief criminal prosecutor, leading over 550 attorneys who comprise the Los Angeles City Attorney's office. Mr. Delgadillo became LACMA’s CEO in October 2011. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE In 2001, Mr. Delgadillo became the first Latino to win citywide office in more than 100 years when he was elected Los Angeles City Attorney. Running unopposed, he was re-elected in 2005 to a second four-year term. During his tenure, Mr. Delgadillo implemented a number of innovative programs to further his vision of a better and safer Los Angeles. His top priorities included fighting crime, improving quality of life in local neighborhoods and reducing the city's civil liabilities. Many of the crimes prosecuted by the City Attorney's Office were gang- and narcotics-related. In his first term, Mr. Delgadillo more than tripled the number of gang Injunctions, contributing to a steep decline in crime in affected areas. Throughout his tenure, he helped make neighborhoods safe by implementing neighborhood prosecutor programs and by reducing the city's liability costs to free up millions to help pay for police and other crucial city services. Prior to his election as Los Angeles City Attorney, Mr. Delgadillo was the Deputy Mayor of Los Angeles for Economic Development, where he attracted new jobs for the neighborhoods that needed them the most. In this capacity he created an efficient, neighborhood-friendly approach to business development and helped bring in billions in private investment to the city in four years. CHARITABLE INVOLVEMENT Mr. Delgadillo was the Director of Business Development for Rebuild LA, a non-profit organization formed to bring investment into Los Angeles neighborhoods impacted during the 1992 civil unrest. |
