The LACMA Alliance is the volunteer arm of the Los Angeles County Medical Association consisting of physicians, medical students, residents, spouses, and friends of medicine. In the Alliance, members work together to promote quality health care in Los Angeles County through education, community service programs and legislative advocacy.

The following are just a few of the many projects in which members are involved:

1. Encouraging legislation that meets both the concerns of the medical profession and the needs of the community.
2. Participating in immunization projects, educating the public to understand "Durable Power of Attorney for Healthcare," and actively promoting and educating the community about programs that deal with violence in the family such as elder abuse, child abuse and spousal abuse.
3. Raising funds to support Nursing and other health related careers.
4. Providing food, clothing and support for women, children and the homeless in shelters throughout the county.
5. Participating in a car seat distribution program and providing education for new parents on car safety.
6. Small groups helping members become better acquainted and sharing similar interests, i.e. bridge, literature, crafts.

Some of the organizations supported by LACMA Alliance include: "Not Even for a Minute", "When Not to Keep a Secret" Essay Project, Meals on Wheels, Stuart House-Santa Monica, Good Shepherd Center for Women & Children, Su Casa, Wellness Community Foothills Young & Health--Pasadena, Y.W.C.A. Battered Women's Shelter--Glendale, New Horizons--Glendale, Bullies & Targets Program.
